Worship

O God, whom saints and angels delight to worship in heaven; Be ever present with your servants who seek through art and music to perfect the praises offered by your people on earth; and grant to them even now glimpses of your beauty, and make them worthy at length to behold it unveiled for evermore; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
~ Book of Common Prayer (1979), 819

As a church in the Anglican tradition, our worship follows the historic liturgy of Word and Sacrament. Music is at the heart of our liturgy and mission as we worship, love and serve Jesus Christ. Our music includes expressions ancient and modern, eloquent and simple, familiar and new.

We are a singing congregation who take seriously St. Paul’s admonition to sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs to the Lord (Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16).

In our worship we join the saints and angels gathered around God’s throne and sing: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” (Revelation 5:12)

Worship at Ascension is enhanced through the various choirs and instrumental ensembles that participate each Sunday. If you sing or play an instrument, we would love to have you join us.

MUSIC MINISTRY

The Ascension choirs and instrumentalists are vital to our Sunday worship. We have music groups for children, youth and adults and welcome those of various skill levels and musical backgrounds.

Our musicians sing and play music from around the world and across the centuries, from chant and hymns to pieces by composers such as Palestrina, J. S. Bach, G. F. Handel, Benjamin Britten, Paul Manz and John Rutter.

Computer or tech experience is not necessary to do this job, the slide show is prepared in advance. Projectionists are scheduled for one service a month and arrive 15 minutes before the service begins when they are serving.
